Commercial Law

The Australian legal system covers two issues, criminal law and commercial/civil law.

defamation	it's against the law to say something that damages a person's reputation. there is some defence if the statements

		that are made are true.

contracts	an agreement between two or more parties regarding a transaction, such as buying/selling an asset,

licence fees for using software, written material etc.

agency a person may ask another person to act on their behalf, such as bidding at a property auction, and

in these cases the acts of the agent (bidding, signing a contract) are binding on the principal, within the limits of the

		authority given [check this]

trusts money held in the name of another person, such as an investment management firm (client assets), rules

against trustees using the assets for personal use

other issues	negligence, failure to fulfill a professional obligation to the required work standard, resulting in loss

trespass, being present on land without the owner's permission

divorce, splitting assets between the former partners during the process of a divorce

		etc.

In commercial issues application can be made to a court if an issue arises, a case may be held, and a judgement awarded (a financial sum
ordered to be paid to the person who suffered the loss).
